Helping
support the Broughty Ferry Crew Fund!
Celebrating
more than 170 years as a lifeboat station, Broughty
Ferry was the first inshore station in Scotland.
The
present serving lifeboat, the 'Elizabeth of Glamis',
is a Trent class lifeboat which is designed to lie
afloat, either at deep-water moorings or at a berth.
The propellers are protected so the lifeboat can
take ground without damage.
This 14m long lifeboat, funded by the Broughty Ferry
Lifeboat Appeal and various legacies and gifts,
has been in service since March 2001. The boat is
named after HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother,
who had been Patron of the Royal National Lifeboat
Institution since 1937.
She has a range of 250 nautical miles, and a top
speed of 25 knots. She weighs 27.5 tons and has
a crew of 6. |
NEW
PRINT RELEASES
The Elizabeth of Glamis is now featured in three
newly released print editions.
The original painting, created by Arbroath artist
Steven Patrick Sim, was commissioned privately
by members of the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat association.
The detailed reproductions are available in small
and medium open prints, as well as a larger, signed
and embossed, limited edition print of 195 copies.

The
release of these three fine art giclée
editions acknowledges and celebrates the dedication
and commitment of all the volunteers who service
the 'Elizabeth of Glamis'.
Since the station opened in 1830, Broughty Ferry's
Lifeboat volunteers have saved more than 650 lives!
20% of proceeds from all sales of the editions
will be donated to the Broughty Ferry Crew Fund.
